EFDA builds on an existing dental assisting foundation. Eligible applicants train in small classes with experienced instructors and focused restorative practice. Guest dentists, hygienists, and office managers may contribute when available. Applicants with two years of verified dental assisting experience may also qualify; admissions can review your path.

03 / YOUR EFDA PATH

Advance with the right preparation.

EFDA is intended for applicants with a dental assisting foundation or qualifying verified experience.

Review eligibility

Share your Dental Assisting completion certificate or employer verification of at least two years of dental assisting experience.

Build restorative skill

The six-week EFDA program includes 48 instructional hours, typically on Saturdays from 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with restorative demonstrations and repeated hands-on practice.

Confirm completion

Review required documents, practical assessments, materials, and completion documentation with admissions before class.

Classes are capped at 10 students. Admissions confirms the assigned South Indianapolis teaching site and your eligibility before enrollment.

Do I have to take DA first?

EFDA builds on dental assisting training. Applicants with two years of verified dental assisting work experience may also qualify; admissions will review your training record or employment documentation before enrollment.

How long is EFDA training?

EFDA runs for six weeks with one full class day each week, typically Saturdays 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Upcoming starts: October 17, 2026, and January 30, 2027. Admissions confirms the exact site and schedule.

Does EFDA replace the DA program?

EFDA is advanced training for eligible assistants, not a separate starting program for someone new to dentistry.
