Expanded Functions Dental Assisting (E.F.D.A.) Program

An EFDA, or expanded function dental assistant, is a dental assistant who has received additional training and certification to perform more advanced procedures.

There are many reasons why you should consider becoming an EFDA. Here are just a few:

  • Increased earning potential: EFDAs earn a higher salary than non-EFDAs. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage for EFDAs was $44,777 in 2020, compared to $39,730 for non-EFDAs.

  • More job opportunities: The demand for EFDAs is growing, as more dentists are looking for assistants who can perform these advanced procedures. This means that you'll have more job opportunities available to you.

  • Opportunity to learn new skills: As an EFDA, you'll have the opportunity to learn new skills and stay up-to-date on the latest dental procedures. This can help you to keep your job skills sharp and make you more marketable to potential employers.

Becoming an EFDA is a great way to advance your career in dental assisting. It offers increased earning potential, more job opportunities, and greater satisfaction. If you're looking for a challenging and rewarding career in the dental field, then becoming an EFDA is a great option.
